Who we are

Refining battery metal in the U.S.

Most battery recycling stops at black mass, an intermediate shipped elsewhere for refining. We are building the capability to refine it in the United States, from whole batteries to metal.

And the metal we refine is not limited to new batteries. Our nickel, cobalt, copper, manganese and graphite serve aerospace, steel, the grid and defense as well as electric vehicles. Circular does not mean batteries only.

Battery Metals, Inc. is a Delaware corporation headquartered in North Carolina. Our team brings together experience in metals refining, battery recycling, industrial engineering and project delivery.

Our team

What our team does

Hydrometallurgy
Process design and operation for high-purity metal recovery.
Feedstock and assay
Sourcing, sampling and pricing of battery scrap and black mass in any format.
Process engineering
Flowsheet design, equipment specification and plant layout.
Project delivery
Taking large industrial plants from design through construction and startup.
What we are building

One site, from receiving dock to finished metal

Integrated plant

Receiving, discharge, shredding, leaching, purification and refining in one integrated plant.

Patent-pending process

A hydrometallurgical flowsheet with front-end engineering complete.

Six finished products

Nickel, cobalt and copper cathode designed to LME grade, plus lithium carbonate, manganese sulfate solution and recycled graphite.

Receiving from 2028

We are reserving feedstock capacity with suppliers now.

Safety and environment

Built to be a good neighbor

Batteries are received, discharged and processed under controlled conditions, with storage and handling designed around lithium battery fire risk.

Our process is designed to regenerate its own acid and caustic on site, so it leaves no sodium sulfate waste.
